Description: Park at Carucci’s Restaurant, the trail head is to the left side of the building. The trail is made of crushed stone dust, so it very easy to walk.
This trail is a half mile out, following near the edge of Rancocas Creek the whole way. It’s not exactly a wilderness trail…
but it has some nice views. Think of it as a half mile down payment on the proposed Rancocas Greenway Trail, a 25 mile trail that would connect the various parks along the southern side of the Rancocas Creek, like Boundary Creek (less tan 1 1/2 miles away), Rancocas State Park, Long Bridge County Park, and others. All in all, that would create one of the longest trails in New Jersey, all within 15 minutes of my apartment (I’m sure that was a large consideration when they planned it).
Anyway, the trail heads away from the delicious smelling food, along a fence behind some nice homes.
You’ll soon hit a nice viewpoint, complete with bench.
From the bench, you’ll walk down an extremely well build bridge, which leads behind another development..
All too soon, the trail comes to an end near Parker’s Creek.. I definitely look forward to the day where they can extend this trail just over a mile to join up with Boundary Creek.

Nice view of Rancocas Creek.
Not much at the moment, but supposed to be part of a trail that crosses Burlington County some day. Can't wait for that day.
Do you know what route the trail will take after Boundary Creek Park?
I do not, but I’m curious as to the plan!
Decided to have our anniversary lunch at Carlucci’s cause I wanted a venue with water view. Also, wanted to even briefly enjoy the beautiful day. Went right to the best resource I know for outdoors in sj. And sure enough, you had this trail! Thanks Mike!
Glad to help! Happy anniversary to you and Ken!
Hello Mike — finally got out to this one yesterday. The main difference is: I started in the far end of the parking lot (i.e. where there a few signs that say “Trail Parking Only”. The trail leads *right to* the restaurant, and I literally walked by where people were eating! (But hey — the signs pointing to the trail said to go that way! Finally, I reached the trailhead where you & The Pres started out a few years back.
Interesting trail, with views of Rancocas Creek — even if it did feel like I was walking through people’s backyards! Thank you for the review; I had always heard of this gem, but never got a chance to come out an check it out. Hopefully one day, the Rancocas Greenway trail will be a reality!!
As always — happy hiking!
