So after we left Yellowstone National Park in the rain and cold, we took many hours to drive south to Grand Teton National Park, which is connected to her more famous neighbor by a 10 mile road.
We drove through the clouds and the rain until we reached Gros Ventre Campground, where Uncle John had help from Tree Rider and The Pres with setting up camp. While it is not the prettiest campground in the park, it is the largest in the park. It does not take reservations in advance, but almost never fills up. We’d spend two nights here.

It’s safe to assume that all local and private trails are also closed.

So back in 2016, we had a great six days in Glacier National Park. But the kids had never been this far West before, so (twist our arm), we planned to take them to Yellowstone National Park.

So, the Batona Trail is South Jersey’s PREMIER (also, only) long distance hiking trail. It can be a fun adventure to spend 3 or 4 or 5 days backpacking the whole thing.
But some folks don’t have 3 or 4 or 5 days in a row. Other folks (we call them intelligent people who aren’t trying to kill their bodies) don’t backpack. But the Batona is still awesome and you still want to do it.
