Website – Official Website Open – Sunrise to Sunset.

Terrain – Grassy hills Surface – Paved trails

Trailheads – N 39° 57.066′ W 75° 6.442′

Directions – Two entrances near Harrison Ave and E State St, one on State and one on Harrison.  Harrison is near the playground, State is near the kayak launch

Parking – Two good sized lots.  Trailhead coordinates are for slightly smaller one near the kayak launch

Because I have ADD, I like to do an occasional book review to go along with all the hiking, backpacking, canoeing, camping, history, and national park write ups (along with other assorted nonsense) that I do for this esteemed website.  Today’s book is Christine Miller’s Josephine’s Wilderness Adventure: A Trip to Shenandoah National Park, which came out last month.  I’m not particularly good at writing reviews, so in case it wasn’t clear in the review below – I really enjoyed this book!

How I Spent My Summer Vacation

With a few years of COVID teaching behind me, I needed a break.  My wife and I have been to 47 states, but we’ve spent less than 8 hours in Colorado (and most of that trying unsuccessfully to fix a flat tire).  So neither gas prices nor inflation nor crazy weather nor a three month old baby were going to stop us from a exploring the heck out of Colorado (although man did they all come close at certain points).  3 1/2 week road trip… here we come!  This is how we spent our Summer vacation.

Address: Roughly at 225 NJ-50, Mays Landing, NJ 08330 Google Maps of where the turn is Coordinates for turn off N 39° 24.757 W 074° 44.539 Coordinates for campsite N 39° 24.910 W 074° 44.020

Directions: Turn off of NJ-50 onto the dirt campground road.  Note that you should use the Google Maps link for where the turn is off of Route 50.  Google will try to take you through the main park entrance, which has no way to get your vehicle to the campsite.
