Port Republic Trail System – Trails West of English Creek-Port Republic Road – Port Republic, Atlantic County, NJ Distance – Not sure how many miles of trails on this side (5? 6?). We did 4 1/4 miles of hiking with a few bits of loop backs using the Bog Trail, Nuthatch Trail, Bog to English Creek Connector, Peninsula Trail, South Side, Bridge Bypass, and some of the old roads. Type – Web Difficulty: 3 of 10 – lots of trails, bit easy to get crossed up

Piney Hollow Preservation Area – Township of Franklin, Gloucester County, NJ Distance – Listed as 1.65 miles of trails, but we did 3.8 miles total and didn’t even do all the dikes. Type – series of loops and spurs Difficulty: 5 of 10 – parts of trail are overgrown, especially on the back end of the lake, making for a tough slog (at least as its gets dark with a 3 and 5 year old in tow).

Michael Huber Prairie Warbler Preserve – Woodland Township, Burlington County, NJ Distance – 13 miles of trails (we did 5 1/2 miles of hiking here, including some backtracking on trails when necessary. ANY hike here will require at least some backtracking to complete loops or to get back to trailheads) Type – Web of trails Difficulty: 3 of 10 – downed trees near the intersection of the Yellow and Green Trails were tricky, but the rest of the trails were pretty easy Total score: 6 of 10

Taylor Wildlife Preserve – Cinnaminson, Burlington County, NJ Distance: We did the loop and went 3.5 miles. Official miles of trail has to be just above that. Type: Loop Difficulty: 4 of 10. Last updated: March 6, 2017 (complete overhaul now that we’ve walked the whole loop)
