Atsion Family Campground Wharton State Forest Shamong, NJ

Address: Atsion Road, Shamong, NJ 08088 Coordinates: 39°44’45.37″N, 74°44’38.22″W

Directions: On Atsion Road, turn onto the dirt road with the sign for Atsion Family Campground.  Drive down and the campsites will be in two loops on either side.

Access: Dirt road, but accessible by pretty much any vehicle.

Goshen Pond Campground Wharton State Forest Shamong, NJ

Address: Atsion Road, Shamong, NJ 08088 Coordinates:  39°44’44.43″N,  74°45’34.52″W

Directions: On Atsion Road, turn onto the dirt road with the sign for Goshen Pond.  Drive down and make your SECOND right where there is a small sign in the tree that says “campground”.  The first turn also goes to the campground, but has a million bumps that your car will probably not appreciate.

Access: Dirt road, but accessible by most any vehicle under normal conditions (has passed my “1989 Toyota Corolla” test many times)

Atsion in the Fall – Shamong, NJ

I spent last weekend with the Scouts, camping out at Goshen Pond as part of an open house weekend for the Cub Scouts.  We did the “A Walk Through Atsion” hike previously covered in this blog, only now featuring the colors of Fall.  It was a great day to be hiking, camping, and taking pictures, a triple threat.
