12th Annual Lines on the Pines – March 12, 2017

linesonthepines1202

So, we had our first table at an event today, and it was our favorite event of the year – Lines on the Pines.  We love this event and try to go every year, so when we were invited by Kayak Karl of Pine Barrens Adventures to share his table at this great event (that we were already going to already), we couldn’t say no.

Hence, a whole day spent talking about hiking and backpacking with folks coming through one of the top three pine barrens events of the year, with some time to sneak out and spend all of money on pine barrens books (my New Jersey books are coming dangerously close to taking up an entire tall bookshelf).

Overall, over 100 tables, tons of stuff to do with the kids this year, two live animal tables, music, more history than you can shake a stick at, and tons of great people.

Special thank yous to Linda and Jim Stanton for doing such a great job organizing this event every year and to Karl for putting up with us!  Also a thank you to the lovely people at Jenkinson’s Aquarium and Unexpected Wildlife Refuge, who were super awesome to The Pres all day, who created an estimated 6 frog crafts and about 9 snake crafts.

Also also a thank you to everyone who reads the blog or keeps up with the Facebook page who stopped by to say hello to us!

Lines on the Pines – March 12 – FREE EVENT… we’ll be there!

So our favorite everything-about-the-pine-barrens event is coming up on Sunday, March 12, 2017 – Lines on the Pines!  This FREE event, now in its 12th year, features books (oh, the book selection), music, crafts, decoys, historical societies, and the like, all having to do with everything pine barrens.  Plus this year has a TON of activities for the kids!  Show up early with those kids, I hear basket weaving is going to be REALLY popular!  Also crafts, the animals of the Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge, the Swan Bay Folk Arts Center (if you remember, that’s where we went to the sheep sheering last Spring), the K9 Rescue, and much, much more!  Check out the whole list of folks here.

But this year is also extra special because SOUTH JERSEY TRAILS has been asked to participate!  Kayak Karl was kind enough to invite The Pres and I to help man his “Pine Barrens Adventures ~ Family Walks/Hikes/Paddling” table, and we couldn’t be more excited.  We’ve never had a table at any sort of event, but I can’t imagine there’s a better one to have one at!  Oh, and it’s our fourth birthday to boot!

So come out to this event and come swing by our table to talk hiking, backpacking, canoeing, camping, and whatever else our ADD has taken us to over the last four years, and then go spend all your money on pine barrens books.

Renault Winery, 72 North Bremen Ave., Egg Harbor City, NJ 08215

FREE – OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!
Enjoy a wonderful day at this INDOOR event, meeting Pine Barrens authors, artists and artisans! Over fifty talented Pine Barrens People will be on hand to sign their books, display their artwork or craft, play their music and in general, share their love of the Pine Barrens!

And a HUGE thank you to the wonderful Linda Stanton for organizing this great event year-after-year, and for putting us in touch with Karl!

Because the children’s book about the Jersey Devil is still a little too scary for them (don’t worry, I bought it anyway).

Two great purchases I made last year.  Gabe will be selling his cd again this year, which you totally should get a copy of.
