South Jersey Trails Event – Daddy-Kid hike!

 

My wife is a member of approximately 43,000 moms organizations (might be a slight exaggeration), which is great. However, one buddy who’s a new dad was lamenting that there don’t seem to be many dad clubs out there.

Hence, a Dad-Kid hike! All dads/grandfathers/male guardians are welcome to bring their kiddos along for a hike at Crow’s Woods Nature Preserve in Haddonfield on Sunday, May 31! We’ll be hiking about 1 1/4 miles, which should take about an hour (Noon to 1 ish). A waterbottle and solid shoes are highly recommended.

Long Bridge Park – Hainsport, NJ

Long Bridge County Park – Hainspoirt, Burlington County, NJ Distance: 2.5 miles of trails (I did 3 miles by being a little OCD and walking every bit of every trail, which required some overlap) Type: Intersecting loops and lollipops. Difficulty: 2 of 10.

Terrain – woods, marsh, river.

Trailheads –  39° 59.528’N,  74° 48.909’W

All trails lead from the parking lot. And the neighborhood next door. But go into the park and use the parking lot.  Get map from board.

Timber Creek County Park (Camden County) – Glendora, NJ

Timber Creek Trails – Timber Creek County Park – Glendora, Camden County, NJ Distance: Varies greatly, we hiked about three miles this day, with a stop the mandatory stop at the playground.  Unsure of how many miles of trails in the park, but its at least 5 Type: Interlocking loops Difficulty: 3 of 10. Last updated – 10/9/16

Dogs allowed – Only in the dog park, which is huge and amazing Stroller friendly? – Yes, if have good trail tires Bathrooms? – Yes, real bathrooms Benches – Benches scattered through the park.

Terrain – Hilly, nice views of the creek.

Hopkins Pond – Haddonfield, NJ

Tree Trail – Hopkins Pond – Pennypacker County Park – Haddonfield, Camden County, NJ Distance: 0.75 miles (official distance is 0.6, I don’t think includes the little connector.  Or someone is wrong) Type: Loop Difficulty: 3 of 10. Last updated: December 31, 2021

Terrain – Wooded area around a small pond

Trailheads –  39° 54.291’N,  75° 1.637’W is the main parking lot.  There are three smaller ones off of Hopkins Lane as well, and a connector to Greenwalk Park next door.
