In November 2016, we headed down to Glades Wildlife Refuge deep in Cumberland County with my wife, The Pres, Tree Rider, and myself. We had a great hike on the Bald Eagle Trail, and went up to Turkey Point to see the bridge there.
Then my wife felt sick, and we had to go home. Turns out she was pregnant.
Eleven months and one new family member later (hi Kite Flyer!), The Pres and I returned to hike the other three trails here – Maple Ave Trail, Warffle Farm Trail, and the Tat Starr Trail.
They were all great, but the Tat Starr Trail turned out to be the gem of the preserve.

Natural Lands Glades Wildlife Refuge – Dividing Creek (Downe Township), Cumberland County, NJ Distances: Bald Eagle Trail – 1.5 miles round trip listed (1.75 miles round trip by GPS) Maple Street Trail – 1.4 miles round trip Warfle Farm Trail – 0.75 miles round trip (listed at 0.5 miles) Tat Starr Trail – 2 miles round trip Type – A series of out-and-back trails Difficulty: 2 of 10 – although this has to go up in the summer, when I’m sure the bugs and the sun might be brutal.
