Standouts – Nice views of the lake.  Nice marsh at the back.

My track. Only did one side of the pond.

Description: A few weeks ago, my Scouts had their weekly meeting, this week on how to use a canoe.  Instead of practicing in a field, they decided to head to nearby Penbryn Lake to practice.

Well, sometimes you head out to teach the new Scouts how to paddle around a lake and stumble into a gorgeous sunset.

But first, the proprieties must be observed.  There is a rough boat ramp (it drops off pretty quick) at the corner of the lake near to Penbryn Road.  From here, you can head out to explore the lake by canoe, kayak, or boat.  It’s not a huge lake, but its good for 45 minutes of exploring.  Bring your fishing rod, this is a popular local spot to fish.

Okay, now the sunset pictures.

Best meeting of the year.

Overall – Not worth driving huge distance to get here, but its a pretty little lake to canoe around.  I’ve also hiked here (can do about a mile) and had a great time and The Pres’s very first time fishing was here too.  Pretty sunset not guaranteed.

Updated one of the first trails we hiked for this blog – Timber Creek Park in Glendora, NJ! Since our first trip there, we’ve been back about half a dozen times. Has some beautiful trails through a beautiful patch of woods, plus what I hear is the best dog park in the area.

Save the Historic Hugg-Harrison House!

So, I somehow ended up at a public meeting last night.  I’m not normally a public meeting guy.  And it had been a long day at work.  Besides, I hadn’t even planned on going.

But ten minutes before it started, I found my car heading in that direction.  I ended up at the…

Hadrosaurus – South Jersey’s Dinosaur Landmark

Hadrosaurus – South Jersey’s Dinosaur Landmark
Haddonfield, NJ and Philadelphia, PA

Like every kid, I had a major thing for dinosaurs.   I very clearly remember being 8 or 9 years old at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia, wandering among the mounted dinosaur skeletons and being in total awe.

hadrosaurus00a

Who wouldn’t be in awe? That kid sure is.

I always stopped in front of the Hadrosaurus display, and I was always blown away by how it was found in Haddonfield.  I mean, that was only two towns over from me, not really where you’d expect a dinosaur to be found…

Daddy-Kid Hike III – February 13, 2016

Daddy-Kid Hike III
Saturday, February 13, 2016
Saddler’s Woods, Haddon Township, NJ
Trail info – Saddler’s Woods

So our original Daddy-Kid Hike III in January was postponed, because The Pres got very sick.  I rescheduled for February 13th, which turned out to be about 6 degrees when we got out there.  Unsurprisingly, The Pres and I were the only ones dumb enough to show up!  Wrapped up in all the layers ever, we ventured out for a hike of a bit more than a mile, enjoying the silence and stillness of a morning cold enough for even the birds to hide out.
