32nd Annual Whitesbog Blueberry Festival

Unfortunately, my canoe trip had to be cancelled this weekend due to storm damage from last week. Happily, that meant we got to go to the Whitesbog Blueberry Festival instead! As three of you may remember, I went to Whitesbog for the first time back in April, so I was happy to be back with the family along. The day featured booths of local history (woodworking, spinning, etc), displays by local organizations (The Pres’s favorite by far was Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge, even if he wouldn’t touch the snake), presentations by a number of experts (the Pres loved the snake guy… I sense a pattern developing here), lots of local music, and wagon rides and guided walks throughout Whitesbog’s historical village. The rain didn’t dampen anyone’s enthusiasm, and we had a really good time.

Bussing from the parking area to the festival. Very impressed on how the buses navigated the narrow dikes they drove on!

The boys (and Dad) were fascinated by the Pinelands Antique Engines Association. There weren’t as many out as I’ve seen at the Batsto Country Living Fair, but that was probably due to the rain. This dinosaur that snorted steam was their favorite.

But The Pres was infatuated with the Greater Pinelands Dulcimer Society, who were jamming under the porch of the general store. – www.gpdsonline.com/
Overall, we had a great time. We didn’t risk the wagon tours with the kids in the rain (if they decided they were unhappy, it would have been not fun for everyone on the ride), but that’ll give us something to look forward to for next time!
